Welcome to the Website of Harvey's Bar & Grill located in the City of Carver, Minnesota. Incorporated in 1877, Carver has a rich history as a steamboat community dating back to the 1850's.
In 1854, the town was divided into lots and named Carver after Captain Jonathan Carver, a British explorer who mapped the area in 1766. By 1857, a steamboat named "Antelope" was making daily runs from Carver to St. Paul. By 1857, Carver also had it's own school district, which for a century was School District #1. In 1858, Carver had a small gold rush when gold was reportedly found in Carver's Spring Creek. The railroad became a strong presence to Carver in 1871, leading to the end of the riverboat era. Carver ceased to be a township and was incorporated as a village in 1877.
In 1937 after already being in existence for 77 years, Harvey's Bar & Grill switched from being a barber shop to Harvey's Bar. In 1980, the old town of Carver became the first historical district in Minnesota to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Carver Historical District has included 87 buildings and 4 structures of historical significance from 1850-1924. Carver also has what is believed to be the oldest water tower standing in it's original spot.
I am proud to be part of this rich history that Carver holds. As with Carver's history, I believe in old-fashioned service and want to serve you a quality product with great integrity.
